Operation:USELESS DIRT update

Here is a list of ADF operations on-going in regard to the recent Iraq debacle.

It shows air strike and fuel off-load metrics.

It also shows a lot of small arms shipments courtesy of the RAAF.

You would think the hell that is the war-torn part of the Middle-East is already awash in AK47 and 7.62x39 ammo.

But I guess not.

Military Stores Delivery

Australia has completed six military stores delivery missions into Iraq:

9 December: A RAAF C-17A Globemaster successfully delivered approximately 40,000lb of crated weapons from Albania to Erbil in Iraq.

24 September: A RAAF C-130J Hercules, carried AK47 assault rifles with slings and magazines (11.5 tonnes).

16 September: A RAAF C-17A Globemaster carried small arms 7.62mm ammunition (30 tonnes).

7 September: A RAAF C-17A Globemaster carried small arms 7.62mm ammunition (58 tonnes).

4 September: A RAAF C-17A Globemaster carried small arms 7.62mm ammunition (57 tonnes).

2 September: A RAAF C-17A Globemaster carried 82mm mortar rounds (38 tonnes).

All in our name, no matter if we agree with it, or not.

A few months ago, U.S.-trained Iraq troops, 30,000 of them, ran in the face of an enemy force of 800.

That is a lot of dropped/sold AK's.

I wonder how many of these arms shipments will end up in enemy hands?

Most?

How much of it will be resold by some local profiteer? We know corruption is rife. As soon as any of our efforts are handed over in this region, the percentage of pilfering is huge.

Australia can't even spend within its means; running federal budgets well over incoming revenue.

Yet, nonsense like this is important.

This is more about the entrenched defence bureaucracy who values self-before-service, looking to justifiy the $30B spend on them each year.

And the misguided PM provides that opportunity.

Nothing strategic about any of this. It doesn't contribute to our regional defence. All those flight hours and workload could be better spent on regional efforts.
