30k U.S. - trained Iraqi troops ran from 800 enemy.
Iraqi officials told the Guardian that two divisions of Iraqi soldiers – roughly 30,000 men – simply turned and ran in the face of the assault by an insurgent force of just 800 fighters. Isis extremists roamed freely on Wednesday through the streets of Mosul, openly surprised at the ease with which they took Iraq's second largest city after three days of sporadic fighting.
That was back in June and isn't likely to have changed much. A handful of RAAF Super Hornets--at $23k per flight hour not counting tanker-gas--is unlikely to change the enemy commitment. Probably need about 500k troops to invade Iraq again and set things right. Any volunteers?
Interesting Tony met with Iraq's AF dudes. The situation is so bad in Iraq that the U.S. taxpayer funded new F-16s are not going to deploy there. The reason is that there is no way to keep them safe.
