Some may not know that the C-17 was not made to be a depot jet. It was sold on that basis as, a feature and not a bug.
That didn't work out so well and now they bring them into the depot.
How much airframe life they will be able to put out is an open question. And, the C-17 will be out of production soon.
If the USAF keeps on its downward course, the Army Aviation branch will have to pick up the slack.
