BTW, I've read that an A2A-loaded Su-33 has a ship-launched range of only 250 miles due to T-O weight restraints. Does anyone know if this is the case, and if not, what is the correct range and/or Max TOW in normal sea conditions?
To rejoin ANON thought, is there video of a SU with weapons taking off? I can't seem to remember video of a fully loaded one taking off. Noticed no weapons on any of them?
To Anon, an Su-33 with 6 A-A rounds would likely have greater than 250nm combat radius. Could you please cite your source?
A Mig-29K with 6 rounds would likely have a greater than 250nm cr as well. Both are indeed beautifully handling aircraft to watch.
The unfortunate thing about this vid however, is of course the boasting strategic implications of Gov-2-Gov support for SyrianGov regardless of their persistent hardline barbarism.
That kind of shit is a relic of the cold-war and is a bit sad and unnerving to see being proudly advocated and showcased today.
This seems to be about building strategic leverage in the Med to directly compete with/counter Europe in general and NATO/US in particular, especially now that Libya is in transition and delayed as a surrogate.
It's apparently about perceiving threats which don't exist in order to justify the build-up of counter-balancing muscle and hawkish policy to the sustainment of certain elitist neo-apparatchik.
I don't remember my 'source', nor, as I made quite clear in my initial post, do I present it as gospel. Do you have any credible sources that support your contentions? Something more quantitatively measurable than the aesthetic gratification you derive from viewing airshow demonstrations, I mean...
As for what what you perceive as being "sad and unnerving to see being proudly advocated and showcased" - while I agree that it's lamentable, I fail to see how a Russian gunboat show of support for reprehensibly behaving ally differs in any significant way from US and European demonstrations of support for benevolent liberal democracies like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, the Gulf States... oh right, my mistake...

Nice. A pretty good swell on, too...

Let's forget about politics and admire how stable and smooth those Sukhois are on finals!
