"Defence had 21,331 civilian employees in June this year. In three years' time it will have 22,344 civilian staff. No wonder they felt bold enough this week to vote for their first protected industrial action in 20 years over their current pay negotiations."
And I am still trying to figure out what real value all those people provide to the defence of the nation; as opposed to a jobs program.

You are totally correct. Be inteesting to see what the apologists come up with, considering this figure does NOT include contractors.
Gets better and funnier, Bill Shorten on the ABC program Insiders, just described (9.23am) the public servants in Defence as "front line", as well as other Public Servants. "There is no more fat to cut"
Just going down to the bottom of the garden to look for fairies.
There are more of them than we have in the Air Force or Navy, and they're not that short of the Regular Army. What are they all doing? Its funny that concurrently with this, the Army is about 300 odd salaries over strength and has been ordered to lose people. Meanwhile the Public Service continues to grow, apparently unfettered...
Maybe what the public servants do is more important than what the Army does.
Good points...Yeah.... maybe these are all civilians in this video LOL

Gets EVEN BETTER, David Marr the left wing journo who writes for the Sydney Morning Herald, and also on the ABC show Insiders this morning after Shorten, stated that public srvants are "wealth generators". If you do not agree you are part of the "Tea Party"
There we go, no wonder Defence is heading in the right direction with all these hangers on.
A fair press is always welcome and essential!
It is raining, however still looking for the fairies at the bottom of the garden
