Is senior Defence capable of telling the truth?

We were told...

"The ship presents very well, and from a technical point of view, there are no major defects."

Now we know that was a lie.

That quote is from the company paid to inspect the ship before it was purchased and not Defence. Either the company intentionally lied to Defence or they're completely incompetent. In either case there should be some legal action in their future.

What Mr McPhedran failed to mention about that report is significant. That report was the list of "flaws" to be rectified in the refit process the ship is currently undergoing, before it is handed over to the Navy.

Funnily enough things break when you're at sea for 5 years. There doesn't appear to be any "deal breaker" issues with the ship though. "The chilled water" suppliers are fragile for instance being a good example. My goodness! However can such an issue be overcome? Clearly that is on par, with Kanimbla and Manoring needing (virtually) entirely new hulls...

Mr McPhedran however is clearly not adverse to telling a porkie pie. This ship was never "mothballed". It was operated in-service by the RFA until the point it entered refit, a tefit planned an ordered for the class as a whole by the RFA mind you, not just Largs Bay...

They did after all get it for 2/6p
A further few shillings makes it worthwhile.

Further to this non-news item. It is interesting Mr McPhedran has decided not to report on the fact that the Largs Bay refit and upgrade has proceeded well with most interior and all exterior work now completed with the ship to re-launch in September for sea trials during September-October with handover to RAN due in November, a month ahead of schedule.

Some pics have emerged too.
