Poster Johnno raises some excellent points. The husbanding of the fatigue lives of the Classic Hornets since the mid-1990 has resulted in a generation and half of RAAF fighter pilots who have little experience let alone currency in flying these jets to maximal performance...and its getting worse.

Now, if truly the "risks are understood and manageable", why wasn't that the case and done (that is, managed) when the risks were identified and advised to senior defence officials way back when, as submissions to the Australian Parliament clearly demonstrate. For example:

However, importantly, what should not be lost on readers of ADM is the fact those things reported in the DOT&E reports on the F-35 JSF Program since 2007 are no longer risks. That's because they have all materialised into real issues and real problems.
