Gold-plated

Solomon has found a snapshot of part of the FY2016 U.S. DOD budget.

There is the usual waste on things like upgrading defective M-1 tanks and Styrker vehicles. Other waste on the Littoral Combat Ship. Shocking waste at over $11B for the defective F-35.

Another? The Virginia-class nuclear sub. It has outlived its usefulness as an affordable submarine because the Seawolf was too expensive, coming in at $2.85B each.

Another thing is our gold-plated weapons. Hopefully we won't fight wars against capable enemies because we will never afford it.

DOD needs to be canned and restarted with a blank sheet of paper. All it is right now is an exercise in laundering taxpayer money.
