1981 T-37 mishap-no one hurt

ACEs. This was an Air Training Command Program (ATC) where little Dets (detachments) of T-37s were put at SAC Wings to aid in pilot proficiency (still wish they did this today, I think it is good money spent).

Good program to get basic airmanship fresh. The ACES Det office for Carswell AFB was in the building across the street from base ops (until we moved in there in '82.... the old photo-lab now where the extended BX parking lot is.). Anyway... Took this in 1981.

Don't know all the details. No one hurt. Two pilots in this T-37 and were deciding if they wanted to go around again or land. They decided to land. Forgot to put the landing gear down. The photo is taken from on top of a fire truck. The guy with the brick in his back pocket is Colonel Kirby: 7th Bomb Wing commander. He is the guy that has to call up SAC and say the 7th's alert force is off the grid until this is cleaned up.
