Big spenders

The government of Australia is trying to sell more taxes.

It isn't justified because there has been no serious reduction in wasteful spending.

If anything there should be tax cuts.

You don't "pay" for tax cuts. You eliminate whole government departments and programs that are wasteful.

The F-35, the M-1 tank, $10B on 3 obsolete air warfare destroyers (equal to about 25 nice, new, regional hospitals); 2 large flat-tops.

C-17 aircraft bought on a whim to justify Middle East operations which should be ended. Useless helicopters at over $30,000 per flight hour.

170 flag ranks for such a tiny military.

Taxes do not need to be increased.

The problem is wasteful spending.

Defence can lead the way with significant cuts to its current existence; with no true reduction in combat power.
