The Cross of Iron. Not perfect, but one of the few movies that shows accurate portions of the middle parts of the German invasion of the Soviet Union in WWII where things really started falling part. A Sam Peckinpah film (Wild Bunch etc) so there is that slow-motion thing in tense situations. Stars James Coburn and has one of the better parts done by James Mason. This intro sets the tone. Chilling. While we fought the Germans in the west, they had about 70 percent of their resources in the east, fighting the Soviets.
