More billions after bad for the useless F-35 project.
In Australia, Defence is a protected class; no matter how many resources are wasted.
Not unlike a banana republic.
Howard, Hill and Houston signed off on a no-bid contract for an extreme-risk paper airplane.
With no credible analysis to back up the decision.
This from one of the F-35 fan magazines.
On the way to this disaster someone discovered that a runway at RAAF WIlliamtown needs to be 2000 feet longer. It gets hot at Williamtown but it gets hotter up North. Read up on how that affects aircraft for performance assumptions on take-offs, landings and go-arounds. The noise envelop will expand compared to existing aircraft too. And if it is a hot day with a full combat load, the jet will be in burner longer.
The entrenched defence bureaucracy is just too stupid for its own good.
The F-35 is fully capable.
Ready to lose almost any battle.
Ready to lose almost any war.
We pay for it.
Since Defence is unwilling or unable to give us a proper combat force all while spending more billions, the solution is to give their budget a $10B haircut.
Then we will find out what is really important.
That should give those 170-plus flag-ranks with their comfort-castles, something to think about.
