The $30k limit

The following list, based on FY2014 figures, shows the cost-per-flying hour of USAF aircraft. Not all aircraft are shown.

The yellow shading? It is all of the aircraft that are over $30,000 per flight hour.

The USAF would still be effective if every aircraft over $30,000 per flight hour was retired. Drones would pick up the ISR slack. Cruise missiles, the long range strike.

We wouldn't be doing things we have before.

But at least against 3rd rate players (which are most wars) we would be effective.

And affordable. The other side of this? Obviously USAF is pretty messed up in MX if the most expensive aircraft under $30k per flying hour...on this list...is...a modified Blackhawk helicopter.
