Obsolete?

I find this hard to believe.

"HMAS Collins was detected by an obsolescent Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Orion ASW aircraft during exercises off Darwin in 1997".

Even with old gear, P-3s are killers. So I find the "obsolete" label hard to take.
