M-1 Carbine

The M-1 Carbine from WWII is still made today as a replica. There are more powerful carbines and rifles.

However it has some advantages today where you are likely to engage in defense at under 100 yards; or well under 100 yards.

-Originally designed for rear area troops and specialists that had other duties than infantry.
-It is small and handy. Useful for smaller people that may find bigger weapons difficult or troublesome, yet still offers them a defense option,
-For people that are lousy with a pistol, it is an alternative.
-The round puts out more foot-pounds than any practical combat pistol.
-You can hit something out to 100 yards unlike a combat pistol.
-Ammo in 1000 round cases is cheap.

For people that need something more powerful, the M-1 carbine is not even on their radar. If one keeps within the limitations of the M-1 carbine, it is useful and may save someone's life.
