Industry contract lawyers get paid more than government ones.
Including those from the Department of Justice.
All this after lobbying to get rid of the alternate engine of course.
Politicians in your pocket and so on.

F-35 Program Resumes Engine Deliveries Despite Ongoing Fire Investigation
The F-35 joint program office says it has removed a hold on the delivery of Pratt & Whitney engines to the assembly facility in Fort Worth, TX, despite an ongoing investigation into a June 23 engine malfunction, which caused a fire onboard an Air Force jet.
