Australia launches Operation:DUBIOUS WORTH

You can read it all here.

Big chief hits war drum.

8 Super Hornets at about A$23k per flight hour give or take. And some other things.

ISIL is Murder Incorporated. They should be treated as such. Anything that can't kill the enemy (cost effectively) is a waste.

The other problem with this is that it weakens us at home. Australia is supposed to be the regional specialist; that is, our back yard. Our small ADF needs to be ready (and resourced) in case something happens here.

All this will dish well for the limited thinking crowd that states Australia must spend 2 percent of GDP on Defence.

Ignoring of course the incompetence and waste and... that a real warfighter and power-hitter ethos could do well... even if ADF took a $10B haircut off of the annual Defence budget.

Problems here are institutionalized Group-think; a defective and highly wasteful leadership with too many flags, and, a useless DMO.

But OK... off on the fishing expedition.

So, what should really deploy? Special Forces. Hit quickly, violently; suddenly. Kill everything in sight. Leave inside of 30 minutes or less. Move on to something else. Over and over. Vermin removal with no bag limit. No holding of ground as that is a loser play.

Do that, and ISIL can't do business; including moving black-market oil.

No bases. No self-licking ice-cream-cone tail. No humanitarian nonsense.

Just tooth; that lives rough. Where support only is there for that killing mission.

Effective, and it won't cost much in regard to a budget. With the proviso that the "cost" could be those facing the threat. Usually things like this are not cost-free in soldier's lives.
