Should the USAF have only F-35Bs for its total buy of the type?

Would the USAF be better off buying F-35B STOVL aircraft?

The requirement could be based on going against no emerging threats.

That leaves home air defense in and out of shorter runways. Even KDCA as a contingency.

20 air defense locations around the U.S. would be: 20, squadrons with 18 aircraft each for 360. Multiply by 10 percent and round up for 400.

10 AEFs (deployment buckets): 10 squadrons, 18 aircraft each for 180. Multiply by 10 percent and round up for 200.

Hey, I am just trying to make the best of a really bad mistake. For the USAF short-take off and landing is fine. Vertical landing really isn't needed.

Here is the latest F-35 propaganda video by LM and friends.

$120B for the buy.

Times 3 for life sustainment costs.

$480B total.
