A look at the F-35 via the F-105

My first assignment was Carswell AFB, Texas (Fort Worth).

At the time the Reserve unit there had some of the last F-105s. They took good care of them. And on various exercises could get most of them up in the air, most of the time.

Be interesting to see what these could have done with J-series weapons and SDB.

Not a good quality video but still illuminating.

Take-off.

And even more interesting: return and landing. Again most of the squadron. The sound is cool. Both the F-104 and F-105 had the best sound at the over-head break.

Look at the approach and landing. Here on a 12,000ft runway, mostly then for the B-52s (yes I saw some of the last D model B-52s also) and tankers.

All this on a nice day.

You are looking at something akin to an F-35 approach and landing.

Drag-chutes for Norway in more difficult conditions for the heavy F-35? Sporty.
