Jobs working on the Blackhawk are going away as it gets "replaced".
The troubled MRH-90 will attempt to take on the mission.
It costs around $30,000 per flight hour; doesn't fly much while waiting on parts from Europe and has a variety of other issues that work against having good reliability, measured as ROE or "rate-of-effort" by the ADF (Defence Today, Vol.10, No.5, December 2013). It is also on the DMO Project of Concern List for being, as a program, poorly managed.
Starting at page 173 of this report (which leaves out some things), DMO, like they do with other projects uses the word "complex" to help explain away incompetence and negligence.
The ADF's combat capability continues to erode as more and more ill-advised decisions are made by the Entrenched Defence Bureaucracy (EDB). The EDB believes in self-before-service, rorting of the system and getting as much procurement and maintenance activity managed and performed by foreign interests as possible.
