A few wake up over GDP and Defence spending

Well, there are a few sane people. Defence spending as a percentage of GDP was always a dumb argument. Especially for such a poorly managed portfolio. Of the $26B per year, $10B is wasted on things that give no value to the defence of the nation.

Small Australia is hundreds of billions in debt thanks to the spend-thrift ways of the last government.

With Australia's ever-growing entitlement society, Defence gets what it gets, as a percentage of the federal budget, after all the centrelink types are taken care off. And with that, we also do not need corporate welfare for Defence companies. Especially foreign-owned Defence companies.

As an aside, you may hear the percent of GDP for Defense spending crowd in the U.S.

Out of the whole of the U.S. federal budget, 27 percent goes to the DOD. Much of it on poorly thought out programs and dumb wars.

For a nation $17T in debt and on the hook for another $100T.
