According to Inside Defense (subscription), the Navy's 'unfunded priority list' has the 22 EA-18G Growlers and nuke refueling/refurb of the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN-73) in it.
I hope the unfunded priority list dies. It is an old trick in DOD and bringing it back does no good.
If refueling the GW is so important, if having 22 Growlers is so important, they should be in the primary budget. Other things in the U.S. Navy budget such as the useless Littoral Combat Ship and the F-35, bring nothing to the defense of the nation.
The only "priority list" should be in the main budget.
Also mixed up in this, a "multi-year" procurement of 29 MH-60R "Romeo" helicopters for the U.S. Navy is tied to the fate of the George Washington. No carrier refuel/refurb, no helicopter buy.
This is outright corrupt behavior by the admirals.
