General Atomics is famous for getting the USAF to buy an aircraft, when no initial requirement existed.
That same kind of thinking may carry the Avenger to fame. This may be one of the few defense advertisements where the seller is not afraid to show their own product getting shot down.
And as for lasers... well GA has been working on solid-state lasers. Just like they have been working on network and sensor technology.
It is very possible that the Avenger can fill a capability gap in spite of years of inept, 4-star leadership.
