Some are discovering Defence is becoming more expensive.
Stunning research from an organisation that lives off of the taxpayer.
Part of the problem is that Defence has bought more expensive platforms justified on faulty thinking.
The F-18 Super Hornet (bought on a whim), the C-17 (some of the airframes bought on a whim). The C-27J will be more expensive than what it "replaced".
Ditto with helicopters.
Here is a sample of the ADF cost per flying hour.
Each turbine-powered M-1 tank can burn through 750 to 1100 liters per day when on the march. That is, when they are not down for hours of repair per day vs. minutes per day with a diesel tank.
The ships are tanking on larger trends too.
Having 170-some flag-ranks feeding at the trough, for such a tiny military force, does not help either.
Defence--in an entitlement society--will end up with a lot of parked hardware and little combat effectiveness for the money spent.
