Ol' Uncle Sal turns on the searchlights and illuminates an interesting factoid from the Hagel stand-up comedy routine that wasn't funny:

"...Last summer I announced a 20 percent cut in DoD’s major headquarters operating budgets, which is expected to save about $5 billion in operating costs over the next five years."

Now, back up to the top of the monologue and consider this too:

"Retiring the A-10 fleet saves $3.5 billion over five years..."

Way more than we need.

With a useful application of flag cuts, a potential savings of $20B over 5 years.
