M-113 and modifications

Good comment from a reader on one of the many fire support options for the M-113 and in regard to the idea that if you counted up all of the M-113s in the Pacific Rim you could have a reasonable allied force.

Bushranger 71

Perhaps the best potential FSV version is the Norwegian NM-135 with a high rate of fire 20mm cannon, 7.62mm machine gun also operable when buttoned down and a 71mm mortar. See this link: http://www.stormesk3.com/inc/N...
Note that the vehicle is a standard unstretched hull and probably C-130 deployable, depending on weight. Also the positioning of the turret and crew, enabling greater use of space at the rear of the vehicle for maybe a larger mortar.
Singapore has around 1,000 M-113 of various types and is geared up for manufacturing.

BAE-Australia had management problems; finally pulled their finger out and did this with Australian M-113s.

Canada

And that isn't everyone by a long shot, that does creative and useful M-113 mods.
