In the earlier blog post "fly often" we may see a good idea to give a USAF F-35 squadrons/Groups/Wings more success.
At an F-35 base, it may be useful to have a squadron of Tucanos available to get in more flying time for the F-35 pilots.
The F-35 has an expensive cost per flying hour. Along with that, during the initial operating capability phase of USAF growth with the F-35, we don't know aircraft availability.
So, with some Tucanos available, pilots could get in enough flying time, and, have a cadre of knowledge available for lower threat scenarios that do not need the F-35 aircraft. That is, the Operation: USELESS DIRT kind which seem to be the dominant patter since 2001.
Silver lining in a dark cloud and all that.
