Behind The Threatened F-35 Delays

Bill Sweetman provides his sage observations on the 2013 DOTE F-35 report.

Development of “enhanced diagnostics (model-based reasoning)” for the Autonomous Logistics Information System (Alis) has been cancelled for the rest of the system development and demonstration phase, because the current diagnostic system has, so far, “failed to meet basic functional requirements, including fault detection, fault isolation and false alarm rates.” (These are otherwise known as “what diagnostic systems do.”)

Will ALIS failing, be the shoe-horn Bogdan needs to put logistics support out for competition?

I had some additional thoughts on this if I was to put on a hat that I don't like, that of the F-35 fan.

If the Marines are delayed yet-again, it is possible that when they do deploy, it will be with the proper 3F software?

Well, OK, that too would take a lot of model airplane glue for hopes like that, given all the work yet to do.
