USAF can't keep NCO schools going but wants to develop missile it already has

Never before has USAF leadership been so poor. So, very, very poor.

Try running a war without the crown jewels of the USAF, the skilled NCO. But, USAF thinks (even with the generous $140B we give them each year) that they can close NCO leadership schools due to budget problems. Hint: You do not need civilians to run NCO schools.

Now consider this. The USAF wants to develop a new nuke-cruise missile.

The US Air Force is moving forward with the development of a nuclear-capable long-range standoff (LRSO) missile, announcing it is conducting market research to identity companies that could help build the weapon.

The government has invited interested industry members to attend an “industry day” on 31 October to provide feedback on the USAF’s LRSO acquisition strategy, according to a request for sources posted on FedBizOpps.gov.

With feedback from industry, the USAF is expected to craft an acquisition strategy, which it will then present to the Pentagon for approval.

The problem is: this has already been done.

If we could bring the spirit of LeMay back so as to remove scores of useless flag ranks for cause and put some fire into the force, it would be worth it.

Without serious leadership change, the USAF is going to die.

I see hints of a long and horrible death dive.

But, it does not have to be this way; even with budget cuts.
