A Buick with a gun. These were made in a town West of where I grew up. Saw a very clean one of these in a tiny Connecticut museum 15 years ago.
Tank destroyers were sometimes misused, (hey it looks like a tank to some operational commanders) but they are part of the U.S. Army WWII history. Not really a solution to a problem, but man as a species was still learning how to employ armored vehicles.
As an aside, the other day I was waiting to cross the street and a unique noise appeared close from the right and a mint condition M-3 Scout Car zipped in front of me and continued down the road. The rest of its' unit were not following...
