Syria strike?

Yet again, if there is no request for a declaration of war before Congress, followed by their approval, it is illegal.

(CBS News) WASHINGTON - CBS News has learned that the Pentagon is making the initial preparations for a cruise missile attack on Syrian government forces. We say "initial preparations" because such an attack won't happen until the president gives the green light. And it was clear during an interview on CNN Friday that he is not there yet.

"If the U.S. goes in and attacks another country, without a U.N. mandate and without clear evidence that can be presented," the president told CNN, "then there are questions in terms of whether international law supports it -- 'do we have the coalition to make it work?' Those are considerations that we have to take into account."

With that, the United States, if it was to follow those correct procedures, does not need a permission slip from the corrupt United Nations leadership.

Curious how cruise missiles will help change a warfare environment where there is already significant rubble. And what targets? The Syrian military is largely dispersed.  Much of its' heavy equipment is in a poor state. Maybe those now empty targets after telegraphing the punch over the news?

This really shows the poor advice U.S. Presidents (past and present), receive from our bloated, ineffective, revolving-door flag-ranks.

Great news-sourcing too. Their main reporter is at the Pentagon and states that the national security adviser has sent out a tweet. Good fodder for a first year journalism class.

A proper response to the U.S. sending out big-dollar cruise missiles against dubious targets with dubious results?

Ignore it. And, show pictures of a bunch of dead kids in the rubble created by the cruise missiles. The U.S. is not going to send in divisions worth of land troops.

The last time the U.S. sent military forces in that region to deal with a civil war in 1983, it ended in disaster. Or, as one pilot from the aircraft carrier JFK said when the pull out was announced, "That will teach Reagan to fuck with the bible."
