When fielded, the fighters are likely be carrying Block II missiles internally,...
LOAL is less of an issue. First you need the ability to launch the weapon. The AIM-9 is a rail-mounted missile, which makes internal carry in the F-35 an interesting problem to solve.
Which means the other modification to a new Sidewinder variant is to change how it separates from the aircraft.
This is probably all cart-before-the-horse. Against a big SU they will be firing uphill... the SU... downhill. Even more of a problem with a P-suit equipped PAC/FA zipping along at 75,000 feet.
A very adverse firing solution for the F-35.
If it survives to engage.
The F-35 is the wrong aircraft for the Navy.
All the way around.
