The USAF boss says air superiority is needed yet claims the F-35 is the answer for that. Interesting because the F-35 is not a smaller F-22.
Then he goes on to fear-monger by stating Syria. Well, they are in the middle of a civil war and have a crap IADS that has been unable to stop Israel.
One alleged S-300 deployment will not save them from a total walk over if we were ever dumb enough to do such a thing for no gain.
Hint, the F-22 can handle this and I doubt any crap IADS Syria has can tolerate a shoot-ex of Tomahawks and JASSM. Where the JASSM can be delivered by 51 year (and older) B-52s and 25 year old B-1 bombers.
The flip side of that?
Political reality.
How interested is the general and the U.S. in angering Russia? And the U.S. populace does not want another Operation:USELESS DIRT. Barack W. Obama or no.
Finally with Welsh we have this:
Welsh added that the sequester has hindered the Air Force’s ability for squadrons to fly their aircraft.
“We’ve got folks sitting in fighter squadrons looking out of windows at aircraft that they haven’t touched since the first of April,” he said.
Yes, well, poor management does that. All of those parked aircraft (and formally combat-ready personnel now doing activity of little worth) give more national defense value than any Just So Failed.
I am always so interested how a 4-star gets up there; misleads elected officials; and, gets away with it.
