United States Marketing Corps update

United States Marketing Corps leader keeps pushing the "5th generation fighter" meme.

“If something happens around the world” before fiscal year 2017, Amos said, “this will be the only fifth-generation aircraft America has that is ready to go in an operational squadron.”

Since there are no F-22s expected to see USMC service, what he states is pure marketing spin.

A ready to go squadron before 2017? Which block software is this?

'Ready to go', could equate to a training squadron and I guess could still qualify as 'ready to go', per his definition (if it means training)..

Yet, for the equivalent cost of 15x 'ready to go' training F-35B units (per hypothetical 2017 squadron), the USMC could alternatively acquire and deploy 15x combat operational F-18E/F block II+; plus 60x AIM-120D; plus 50x AIM-9x II; plus 100x MALD/J; 60x AGM-88E, plus around 300x JSOW-ER in actual munitions!!

And even then there'd likely still be savings!

They might even be able to afford the fuel!!

Now, Gen. Amos was saying...???

Sweden have one of the healthiest finances in Europe and the cheapest fighter with most bang for buck yet they don't have two of them at stand by for incidents.

How the heck should all those cash strapped debt drowned nations afford 60, 80 or 100 imaginary F-35 let alone fly it.
