F-35 Fast Facts Disappears

PR is a difficult job.

In the age of the Internet, with the troubled F-35 aircraft it can be more difficult.

A few days ago, the maker of the F-35, Lockheed Martin, did their usual release of the fast-facts for the F-35.

After being published on the various corporate and fan sites, it disappeared. The substance of that report is here.

It seems that the story about AF-23 only being delayed a bit in delivery on the way from Fort Worth, Texas to Nellis AFB, Nevada got caught up in the spin machine. The aircraft had to make a stop in Lubbock, Texas due to an in-flight malfunction. The story surrounding that malfunction and the time spent at Lubbock, is not clear.

Don't blow it out of proportion?

So what if there's some kind of bigger malfunction which needs to be fixed. It's still in the normal development phase for heaven's sake. This is nothing. Give it another 5 years, then let's discuss?

Which still doesn't explain the conflicting statements.

Unfortunately when looking at history, "normal development phase" can't be used with this program.

F-35 does not have 5 years as key countries need to make a shopping decision within few years and unlike LM claims, there is
frantic competition in the global fighter market, plenty of options.

What I find surprising is that the actual wire connector problem on an aircrafts flight control system during its delivery flight.
That should raise some concerns.
