And then there is this nonsense:
Bogdan must also establish good ties with the international partners, some of whom have grown frustrated by Washington's repeated moves to slow its own production orders since that slowed progress in driving down the cost per airplane.
It is program management incompetence (both in industry and the government) that has slowed down the orders of the Just So Farcical. LM is out on the worldwide Powerpoint tour briefing how great they are and it is the enemy in D.C. that is tying everything up.

Eric: I've been following your blogging about the F-35. Apparently the Canadian government is about to announce that they are going to look for alternative aircraft:

I just found out the failed F-35 project is now dead.
The F-35 procurement project, the most persistent thorn in the Harper government’s side in recent years and the subject of a devastating auditor-general’s report last spring, is dead.
Faced with the release of an audit by accountants KPMG that will push the total life-cycle costs of the aircraft above $30-billion, the operations committee of cabinet decided Tuesday evening to scrap the program.
Hmmm..."I just found out the failed F-35 project is now dead."
and in other breaking "news", the Earth is proven to be flat...
Try again.

Accept that there is no proof of it being a "silver bullet", except maybe on PowerPoint.
This article is the best I have seen so far about the unraveling of the Canadian sole-source F-35 program. This is surely going to have a profound effect on the other foreign partners. i.e., the total number of 35's actually built will continue downward. There are a bunch of interesting insights within this article.....like delaying this decision until after the US presidential election & the fact that taking another $23B out of the Canadian defence out-year budgets would leave them with only an AF.

Oh, Magoo, you've done it again . . .

*Yawn*
The F-35 is as good as dead in Canada.
A former Cabinet Minister (David Emerson) just released a report on Canada's aerospace industry and found that we could be getting more in Industrial Regional Benefits (IRBs) by doing aircraft assembly in country. While not specifically mentioning the F-35, it's pretty obvious that LM isn't interested in such arrangements.
Another mark against the F-35 acquisition is that our Chief of Defence Staff, General Lawson (the former head of the RCAF) testified in front of a parliamentary committee that the LM fighter isn't the only one available to meet Canada's needs.
Canada's purchase of the JSF is dead. The Conservative government is just looking for a graceful way to back down.

Now we exactly know who you are now.
Anyway, I also heard about the Dutch parliamentarians have voted in favour of leaving the F-35 programme, with a 77 to 71 vote on 5th July. The government is considering its alternatives, a final decision being likely after the 12th September general election. Prior to elections, the Labor party will submit a proposal to the legislature calling for Dutch withdrawal from the failed project. Indeed the Netherlands is an industrial partner in the programme and had already purchased two test aircraft, with the first aircraft likely delivered back in September.
Hopefully they should cancel the two test aircraft and return the F-35 back to LM.
In Holland we got a new goverment now thats decided to make a final decision end next year. 1 of the 2 parties within that goverment is against it and in parlement there is no majority also.
The latest report in Holland concludes that the F-35 is not within budget, not on time, that there are technical risks and industrial compensation is way behind expectations.
There is only logical outcome in Holland for years now. The F-35 order is gonne be canceled and Holland will withdraw from the project.
The outcome of the report in Canada will only make it easier for Holland.
Only reason that can delay this outcome is that the new goverment falls over this and there be new elections again.
So the F-35 project in Holland is pritty much in its endgame.
Claiming the Canadian F-35 acquisition is dead is foolish. The safe bet is to accept that this is simply a bit of political soap opera before the original correct decision is reaffirmed.
There's Magoo, again.
Give it a rest, Andrew.
Peter:
"Now we exactly know who you are now."
I'm not sure how to interpret that. I'm just a concerned taxpayer who has left his JSF "Fanboyhood" behind, thanks in no small part to Eric's blog.

To Anonymous @8:51 PM:
Given the political realities of the Canadian Conservative government (budget deficit, claims to be prudent fiscal managers, intent to introduce income splitting for families before the next election, Obama's refusal to approve the vital Keystone XL pipeline)really has no choice but to re-examine the F-35 purchase.
Add to that the need to acquire SAR aircraft, new frigates, destroyers, arctic patrol vessels, an ice breaker, supply ships, armoured patrol vehicles and army supply trucks. In this context, the JSF with its too late to replace the CF-18 full rate production (not to mention its many shortcomings) will be a likely candidate for the chopping block.
This is of course, only one man's opinion.

Hey, Anon/Magoo, see Monty's comment above and standby for an even bigger JSF happening from up this way this side of March next year. ; >)
If the f35 is cancelled the US will need to restart f22 production, and politically may need to offer Japan and Australia an export version.
24 f22's and 72 super hornets would be a good result for Australia.
Wake up an smell the roses...they are growing well in the crap you are spewing! The F-22 line will not be restarted.
Oh, and by the way Anon@ 0851 is not Magoo...
Not restarted? It will be if its the only stealth fighter they have.
Talk about naive! You really don't have any idea of the US procurement/industrial system do you?
As for exporting, try looking up the Obey Ammendment.
The Obey amendment didn't prohibit export. It prohibited the use of government money to market it (example FMS program related activity).
Why haven't we seen the JSF (any of them) doing any real manoeuvring let alone at low level?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6XxUx6uFhA
Maybe Andrew or even Spudman and his little cohort could explain why this is?
Obey Amendment: “None of the funds in this act may be used to approve or license the sale of the F-22A advanced tactical fighter to any foreign government.”
Seems pretty clear cut...
Laws can be changed.
Your quote does not cover an F22aus (or whatever an export version might be called).
Clutching at straws guys! Accept it, the F-22 will NOT re-enter production and will NOT be exported!
