“The Germans laid 126,00 mines in European waters; sweeping them cost us 327 minesweepers and 4600 men and officers.”

Re the minesweepers, why do we not factor in attriton in current military planning?
eg Austrlian Chinook loss, 15% in one incident.
Guess that means that in the modern era we should expect our MCMs to have a 100% success rate and a 0% failure rate ... just like they do in peacetime!
